Argentine opposition leader calls central bank “thieves” and repeats pledge to abolish it
The International Monetary Fund will meet Argentine presidential candidate Javier Milei on August 18, five days before a decision on the country’s next loan instalment.
Milei has pledged to abolish Argentina’s central bank, which he recently accused it of a “swindle”, and has floated the possibility of dollarising the economy. Online newspaper Infobae reported he will meet with Rodrigo Valdés, head of the IMF’s western hemisphere department.
