Middle income monetary policy staff salaries fall behind peers

Officials in Europe and Africa tend to earn highest average annual income

The average salaries of monetary policy employees in middle income countries are substantially lower than counterparts in other economies, the Monetary Policy Benchmarks 2024 finds.

In the sample of eight upper-middle income respondents, monetary policy staff annual income averages $29,768. That of five lower-middle income institutions averages $24,402.

Meanwhile, in the group of eight high income monetary policy divisions, staff salary averages $70,028. Among the three low income respondents
