Minutes released with greatest lag in lower-middle income countries

Blackout period lasts seven days in most central banks

Lower-middle income central banks publish meeting minutes nearly one month after policy decisions are announced, the Monetary Policy Benchmarks 2024 reveal.

The time lag between announcement and minutes publication averages 25 days in this income group. The lag is an average of 16.9 days among high income respondents and 15 days on average in the upper-middle income category. Between the two low income central banks that released data, publication averages just 0.5 days.
