Swedish government proposes $2.37bn injection for Riksbank

Government proposal falls short of central bank’s request

The Swedish government is proposing a Skr25 billion ($2.37 billion) capital injection to restore Sveriges Riksbank’s equity to the “statutory base level”, the central bank said on June 13.

The Riksbank requested a capital injection of Skr43.7 billion on April 2 to restore its capital levels. That would have been the middle point between the maximum (Skr62.6 billion) and the minimum (Skr20.9 billion) equity level prescribed in the 2023 Riksbank Act.
