Johnson Pandit Asiama assumes office as predecessor takes terminal leave ahead of retirement

Johnson Pandit Asiama took office as the governor of the Bank of Ghana on February 3, as his immediate predecessor went on terminal leave.

A statement on January 31 from the office of the country’s president, John Dramani Mahama, announced that Mahama had nominated Asiama to be the new governor. The appointment still has to be officially approved by Ghana’s council of state.
