Brazil central bank union ends strike

Months of industrial action fail to secure requested pay increase

A months-long strike of central bank employees in Brazil ended on July 5, Brazilian media report.

The strike ended in part because any salary changes for 2022 had to be approved by July 4. Union Sinal had demanded a pay increase of more than 25%, as well as changes to the categorisations of certain central bank positions.

The union will continue slowdowns and other less disruptive forms of industrial action.

Sinal began industrial action against the Central Bank of Brazil in January, with
