Brazilian politicians launch legal action against Campos Neto
Allies of president escalate pressure on central bank as policy-makers opt to hold rates
Senior officials from Brazil’s ruling party have launched legal action against central bank governor Roberto Campos Neto, as tensions grow over the stance of monetary policy.
Politicians from the Workers Party (PT) of president Luiz Inácio ‘Lula’ da Silva accused Campos Neto of politicisation and called on the courts to bar him from making political statements.
Legal documents published by the PT quote media reports alleging Campos Neto signalled he would accept a role in a potential government
