BSP inks deal with Australian firm for polymer note
Note Printing Australia will produce 1000-peso banknote, circulating from next year
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has signed a deal with Note Printing Australia to produce a new polymer 1000-peso banknote.
Philippine media quote governor Benjamin Diokno saying that the first batch of the new plastic notes will arrive in April.
Diokno noted that Australia was the first country to introduce polymer notes. “As such, their advanced technology and expertise in the printing of polymer banknotes will be the best benchmark for our first circulation,” he said.
