SNB to launch new banknote series
Bank to “pay homage to the country’s unique topography” on new bills
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) is updating its banknotes for the first time since 2005.
The bank is launching a design competition today (October 30), and it is expecting to present draft designs from 12 applicants in autumn 2025, followed by a final decision in 2026. The SNB has “no definitive plans” for an introduction date but assumes to put the new series into everyday use in “the beginning of the 2030s at the earliest”, it said.
