Macedonian notes: world’s first security thread in long window
New banknote designs entering circulation feature De La Rue’s Kinetic StarChrome
The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia (NBRM) on December 15 issued two new banknotes into circulation, one of which is the world's first to feature a security thread in an extra-long window.
Issued to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the institution, the 2,000 ($34) denar and the D200 notes will circulate alongside the current series, which was launched in 1996. At the same time, the bank will begin to withdraw the D5,000 note.
