Kansas Fed names Hoenig successor

Esther George, first vice-president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, was on Thursday named as Thomas Hoenig's successor as president and chief executive.

George will take on the new role after Hoenig retires on October 1. Hoenig has reached the mandatory Federal Reserve retirement age for presidents of 65.
