Payments staff strength averages close to 30 personnel

Employees in the Americas collect highest average annual salary

Payments departments of central banks have nearly 30 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees on average, the Payments Benchmarks 2024 reveal.

The average figure is 28.3 individuals. Among 33 respondents, a lower-middle income central bank from Europe reported the maximum of 132 workers. On the far opposite end is a minimum of two staff in a high income jurisdiction. The largest average FTE staff size by region (37) is found in Europe.
