Quarterly forecast updates are the norm at central banks

Forecasting tends to be a collaborative exercise between staff and policy-makers

Most central banks update their key economic forecasts on a quarterly basis, though there is some variation around this figure.

Of the 36 central banks that answered this benchmark question, 20 (56%) said they update forecasts four times each year. Second most popular was updates every six months, which was the case at seven central banks (19%). The lowest frequency was one update a year (two central banks, 6%) and the highest frequency was an update every month (one central bank, 3%).
