New banknote security technology is posing opportunities and challenges in the fight against counterfeit notes.
Central Banking’s 2021 Currency Benchmarks reveals central bank currency managers are fighting counterfeit crime with sophisticated design techniques embedded in different substrates.
Traditional techniques, such as intaglio printing, were almost ubiquitous among the 32 central banks that responded to this question – 97% of central banks use them. Watermarks and security threads
