Eastern Libyan governor tries to resign as threats mount

Local media says el-Hibri complains of shrinking revenue and attacks on staff amid civil war

The governor of one of two central banks in civil war-torn Libya has asked to resign, saying threats are increasing, according to media reports.

Ali el-Hibri wrote to the speaker of Libya’s house of representatives, several media outlets reported on March 3. El-Hibri said that he wanted to resign as he had reached the central bank’s statutory resignation age.
