CCP network study uncovers highly concentrated core of firms

First data-collection exercise of its kind reveals concentrated core and more dispersed periphery

The global network of CCPs features a highly concentrated core

Global standard-setters published the results of a study into the network of central counterparties (CCPs) today (July 5), revealing a high degree of concentration among a handful of major firms.

In what it says is the “first comprehensive data collection of its type”, the study brings together data from 26 CCPs across 15 jurisdictions to map out the network of interdependencies among CCPs, their members and other financial institutions, such as custodians.
