UK public borrowing soars to June high
The British government borrowed £13 billion ($21 billion) last month, the highest amount for June since monthly records began in 1993.
The figure also means that, at £41.2 billion, second-quarter borrowing was the highest since quarterly records were introduced in 1946.
The £13 billion figure was less than economists had expected and the release of the measure by the Office for National Statistics, the government's statistics bureau, on Tuesday morning had little impact on markets.
