Yilmaz on the causes of Turkey's economic rise

The strong performance of the Turkish economy over the past six years can be attributed to the country's ambitious structural reform agenda, stated Durmus Yilmaz, the governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.

The agenda's key steps were granting central bank independence, and introducing free-floating exchange-rate and inflation-targeting regimes, Yilmaz said, adding that inflation targeting had significantly dampened price growth.
