Turkey appoints new deputy

Mustafa Ibrahim Turhan, a board member of the Central Bank of Turkey, will become one of four of the institution's deputies.

The central bank said on Friday that Turhan would take on the role, which is now vacant.

Turhan will serve a five-year term, which can be renewed at the governor's discretion.

He joined the board in April 2004 and was formerly an economics professor at the Yeditepe and Beykent universities. He has an MA and a PhD in international banking.
