Hackers seize South Sudan central bank website

Group demands central bank act to make currency stronger against the dollar

South Sudan’s central bank fell victim to a cyber attack, after hackers seized control of its website. The hackers, calling themselves Anonymous South Sudan, demanded the central bank encourage the appreciation of the local currency.

The Bank of South Sudan issued a statement on April 11, stating that “its website suffered a technical glitch, which disrupted the service on Sunday [April 9]”. The central bank said its personnel “contacted the server administrators to restore the service the same
