Cambodia and Laos launch cross-border payments link

Travellers from the two countries will be able to shop in their home currencies using QR codes

The central banks of Cambodia and Laos launched the first phase of their cross-border QR code payment link between the two countries on August 18.

This allows Cambodian travellers in Laos to shop in riels, their home currency, via scanning a QR code called LAOQR, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) said in a statement. Travellers using the service must have an account in one of the participating banks.
