Serbia cuts rates by 25 basis points

Decreasing global energy prices and refinery overhaul fuels disinflation

The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) eased its monetary policy by 25 basis points, it said on July 11.

The new key policy rate is 6%, with the deposit and lending facility rates adjusted to 4.75% and 7.25%, respectively.

This is the second rate cut after an 11-month hold that ended in June. The central bank had begun its rate hike campaign in April 2022, with the key rate peaking at 6.5%. Inflation in the Balkan country was “within the target band” in May, dropping to 3.8% in June. The central bank
