Lebanese central bank joins action against ex-governor, say reports
Official says central bank has joined foreign investigations of alleged crimes by Salameh
Lebanon’s central bank has become a “civil party” to an investigation by French magistrates of alleged crimes by its former governor.
The Central Bank of Lebanon joined the inquiry led by magistrate Aude Buresi into possible money laundering and embezzlement by Riad Salameh, The National reported. Under French law, a “civil party” to an investigation may be paid compensation if the accused party is found guilty.
The National said it was possible that the central bank’s move to join the probe meant
