European investigators want to interview Lebanese governor
Magistrates investigating money laundering reports have interviewed two former deputy governors
Magistrates from France, Germany and Luxembourg intend to question Lebanon’s central bank governor next month over reports of embezzlement and money laundering, Agence France-Presse reported.
AFP quoted a “judicial source” saying the magistrates would question Riad Salameh, but it is not clear whether the governor has agreed to this. Two Lebanese magistrates have repeatedly tried to interview Salameh over the same issues, but he has refused to meet them.
Salameh has denied all wrongdoing
