Bernanke praises Volcker and Greenspan contributions on policy communication

Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, yesterday hailed the contributions of his two most recent predecessors at the helm of the US central bank in improving its communications and, in the case of Alan Greenspan, pioneering forward guidance.

Speaking at an event marking 100 years since the Federal Reserve Act was enacted, Bernanke said that a "significant aspect of finding innovative ways to execute our duties as a central bank in a new, more complex environment has been the ongoing
