UK competition authority approves VocaLink sale
Decision clears way for MasterCard to acquire the provider of UK payments infrastructure
The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has cleared the way for MasterCard to acquire payments infrastructure provider VocaLink, after the two firms agreed on a package of measures designed to address the authority’s concerns.
The CMA opened an investigation in January into the sale, which would see MasterCard buy a planned 92.4% stake in VocaLink.
VocaLink provides the infrastructure for the UK’s Bacs and FPS retail payments systems, and the Link ATM network.
While the authority
