Global house prices have ‘almost stabilised’ – BIS

Prices still declining in aggregate, a trend driven mainly by China and the eurozone

House prices globally have “almost stabilised” in aggregate and are already rising in most jurisdictions, the Bank for International Settlements said on August 29.

Its latest data on global house prices, covering the first quarter of 2024, showed prices had fallen by 1% year-on-year in real terms. This was less than the 1.2% fall in Q4 2023, and marked a recovery from the trough of Q1 2023, when house prices fell by 3.1%.
