German inflation could be over 2% until mid-2022 – Bundesbank

Inflation is likely to drop from early 2022 as base effects end, central bank forecasts

The Deutsche Bundesbank believes inflation in Germany could remain over 2% until mid-2022, according to its monthly economic report, published on August 23.

This would mean the eurozone’s largest economy will overshoot the ECB’s target over the coming quarters. Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann has repeatedly stressed inflation risks should not be underestimated.
