Joint project unveils dataset stretching back to 1086

The Bank of England and two statistical agencies have unveiled a joint project to gather and publish data for the UK stretching back to the time of the Norman conquest.

The data, which is freely available to download, has been compiled by researchers drawing on a huge array of largely paper-based sources, as well as several academic estimates for data that was not collected in earlier years.

The BoE, the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence, and the Office for National Statistics launched
