IMF releases world’s most comprehensive debt database

Data covers 190 countries and a wide range of instruments

The International Monetary Fund has published the most comprehensive debt database ever to be compiled, bringing together information on more countries and in greater detail than researchers have managed in the past.

The fund unveiled its Global Debt Database on May 14. The data covers 190 countries, spanning both private and public debt, and incorporating debt instruments beyond standard loans and debt securities.
