Hong Kong’s new banknotes get design facelift

For the first time, the design of the notes will share a unified theme

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s (HKMA) new banknote series will have standardised designs for the first time but will not be printed on polymer.

While the central bank has trialed using substrate in the past, the specific security features chosen for the new banknotes prevented the central bank from extending its polymer usage to the new series.
