The Central Bank of Seychelles will launch a new currency series in December, the first in 18 years, comprising four new banknotes and seven coins.

The series, celebrating "Seychelles' unique biodiversity", commemorates 40 years of independence for the nation, and showcases some of the country's best flora and fauna.

The current banknotes and coins have been in circulation since 1998 and 1982 respectively, with minor updates being made over time – the last to be made was to the SCR100 ($7.6)
