Banxico deputy says stagnant TFP 'by far' economy's biggest problem
While TFP in China has increased dramatically, in Mexico it has remained flat
Stagnant total factor productivity (TFP) is "by far the most serious" long-term problem dogging Mexico's economy, Bank of Mexico deputy governor Manuel Sanchez said in a speech in Hong Kong on Friday.
"The comparison with China is rather telling. While TFP in Mexico has remained basically flat, Chinese TFP has increased dramatically" since the 1980s, Sanchez said.
