Bernanke stresses importance of financial education

Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, on Thursday said the recent financial crisis highlighted the importance of personal financial education in schools.

At a meeting with teachers in Washington, Bernanke said: "Many of you teach your students the skills necessary to make good financial decisions. Your efforts are of paramount importance in helping students understand how to save for the future and how to invest their money to make it grow."
