South African Reserve Bank - Annual Report 2006/07

Tito Mboweni, the governor of the South African Reserve Bank, noted the importance of transparency in his foreword to the central bank's latest annual report.

Mboweni said: "The central bank understands that in-depth reporting of its activities improves the credibility of its actions."

The high inflation rate, above the upper boundary of the 3% to 6% target at 7%, is "a temporary phenomenon", according to the governor.
