Turkey names new central bank governor

Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer approved the government's nominee for central bank governor on Tuesday 18 Aprilafter rejecting an earlier candidate, Economy minister Ali Babacan announced.

The new governor will be Durmus Yilmaz, 59, a British-educated economist who has been with the central bank since 1980 and has been a member of its monetary policy committee since 2004, Babacan said in a brief statement.
