Azerbaijan to issue new banknotes

The National Bank of Azerbaijan is preparing to present new banknotes, according to NBA board chairman Elman Rustamov.

However, the timeframe for the issuance of the new currency has not been agreed upon with the President yet, he told reporters on Thursday.

The transition to new currency will simplify the accounting system and allow reducing state expenses, Assa-Irada reported. Since 1992, the rate of the national currency Manat has decreased 10,000 times, it said.
