Serdengecti appointed Turkish cbank governor

Turkey's president Ahmet Necdet Sezer approved on Mar 13, 2001 a decree regarding appointment of Sureyya Serdengecti as the central bank governor. The decree is expected to be issued in the Official Gazette.

Serdengecti, who has been serving as the central bank's deputy governor since Jan 2, 1998, earned a degree in economy at the Middle East Technical University (METU), started to work at the central bank in 1980. He replaced Gazi Ercel who resigned as central bank governor on Friday, Feb 23
