Central banks take less than 50 minutes to fix critical outages
Time tolerances for critical system downtime range from one to 32 hours
Central banks were far quicker in restoring critical systems after they had experienced outages last year than their maximum acceptable tolerance for downtime, according to data from Fintech & IT Benchmarks 2021.
It took 22 central bank IT and systems departments on average just under 50 minutes to patch what they defined as ‘critical system’ outages so that they could resume operations. This compared with an average tolerance downtime of 8.7 hours for the 24 central banks that provided data
