External comms impact gauged by trust and comprehension

Absolute numbers of appearances, social media engagement and market indicators rank lowest

Central banks typically rely on trust levels as well as audience comprehension to judge the impact of public information, the Communications Benchmarks 2024 shows.

Audience trust levels average a score of 8.6 out of a possible 10. Participants also assigned an average score of 8.5 to audience comprehension.

From the opposite end, absolute numbers (of public appearances by officials, or publications) received the least average rating of 6.2. It falls behind social media engagement (6.4) and market
