Facebook, LinkedIn, X are top social channels

Central banks see “interactions” as key metric for tracking social media

Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter) are the three most-used social media platforms for central banks’ external communications, according to the Communications Benchmarks 2024.

Among 31 central banks with a presence on social media, 18 (58%) report that Facebook is one of the platforms they use most prominently for external communications, making it the top social platform used by central banks. LinkedIn came second, with 16 (52%) institutions considering it one of their most important
