Rwanda and Ghana to connect payment systems

Rwandan central bank governor reveals plans to increase financial inclusion with CBDC, microfinance

The central banks of Rwanda and Ghana are linking their national payment systems.

National Bank of Rwanda governor John Rwangombwa revealed the project to The Banker today (January 31).

The project is being facilitated by non-profit organisation the Global Finance and Technology Network. The two African central banks are also planning to establish “fintech licensing passport systems”.

He added that the project would be announced officially at the Inclusive FinTech Forum in the Rwandan capital
