Kyrgyzstan opens public consultation on laws governing CBDC
Amendments to legislation affecting digital som are due to come into force in 2027
The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan on August 8 opened a public consultation on draft amendments to laws that will affect the central bank digital currency (CBDC) it is developing.
The draft amendments identify the central bank as the digital som’s platform operator, and the treasury and banks as the other direct or first-tier participants. Second-tier participants are identified as individuals or entities with digital som wallets that can be accessed through first-tier providers.
