Mexican president seems to make U-turn on central bank law
Bank of Mexico says draft cash law would endanger its independence
Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said a controversial draft law, supported by his own political party, must preserve the independence of the central bank.
In his daily press conference on January 20, the president said a new way should be found to ensure people can convert dollars into pesos.
