UK lawmakers launch inquiry into DLT and cryptocurrency
Parliamentary committee to investigate whether UK regulators have struck right balance in regulating emerging technologies
The UK’s Treasury Committee has launched an inquiry that will examine the impact distributed ledger technology (DLT) could have on financial institutions, including the Bank of England (BoE).
In a statement released today (February 22), the committee outlined the parameters of its investigation, which will focus on the use of digital currencies and DLT, looking at the risks and benefits these new forms of technology could bring to the UK financial sector and wider economy.
