BCEAO denounces ‘fraudulent’ messages on social media
The Central Bank of West African States denies the existence of false serial numbers on banknotes
The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) on January 3 denounced “fraudulent” messages on social media attributed to the institution, which claimed the existence of false serial numbers on banknotes.
The central bank explained messages disseminated on social networks implied the institution had included “false serial numbers” on the 10,000 CFA franc and 5,000 CFA franc banknotes, as well as differences in the dimensions of these denominations.
