BoJ establishes working groups to consider how to make best use of BOJ-NET

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) has established three working groups to discuss practical issues regarding more effective use of its settlement system, BOJ-NET, it announced today (March 18).

BOJ-NET, first launched in 1988, is used to process the settlement of funds and government bonds (JGBs). The central bank announced in 2009 that it would be updating the system, and the new BOJ-NET was launched in October 2015.

In February, the bank announced an extension to the system's operating hours until 21:00
