Turkish PM calls on central bank to cut rates
Prime minister urges CBRT to call one-off meeting to lower interest rates
Turkey's prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged the country's central bank to "convene an extraordinary meeting" to cut interest rates, arguing it would "enthuse" investors and spur economic growth, following a strong showing by his Justice and Development party in local elections on Sunday.
Erdogan's comments, reported by Turkish media following a press conference in Istanbul earlier today, come on the heels of a presentation by Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) governor
