Pakistan deputy wants new data protection laws for payments
New laws and regulations are needed to protect customer information in payments transactions according to Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, a deputy governor at the State Bank of Pakistan.
Wathra told an audience at a conference on information security that he welcomed "innovative banking practices" in the fight against financial exclusion, but stressed the importance of data protection practices keeping pace.
