Price stability ‘pivotal’ in shaping exchange rate pressures

Price stability plays a "pivotal role" in determining exchange rate pressures, according to a discussion paper published yesterday by the Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition (Bofit).

The paper, Exchange Market Pressures during the Financial Crisis: A Bayesian Model Averaging Evidence, by Martin Feldkircher, Roman Horvath and Marek Rusnak, examines whether any of 58 indicators, across 149 countries, can help explain pressures on the exchange rate during the global financial
